HIV Positive: My 40-Year Journey and Lessons Learned

A space for sharing my experiences with HIV, dispelling myths, and offering hope to those living with the virus.

This blog is about overcoming stigma, finding support, and celebrating life with HIV.

This is a space for stories, support, and building a strong community of people affected by HIV.

About Me

Hi there!

My name is Terry Vaughn and I’m from San Diego, California. While I may be 65 chronologically, I have a youthful spirit and a big passion for life.

I believe in empathy and understanding, and I find a lot of joy in connecting with others. Perhaps that’s why I’m not the biggest fan of talking about myself, but I’m happy to share that I’ve been navigating life with HIV for 40 years.

This work with HIV advocacy is close to my heart. Back in the 90s, I spent my time in Florida fighting for the rights and well-being of people living with HIV. For three years, I even hosted a weekly art class specifically for those affected. Those Wednesday afternoons were filled with creativity, connection, and a shared sense of community.
